Job Description
As a Chemical Engineer, you will interface with customers to understand their needs and projects, develop a scope of work, and comprehend technical problems to provide effective solutions. You will participate in design validation, including pilot plant equipment and laboratory testing, and design pilot plant test plans. You will also develop processing equipment, work with pilot plant technicians and chemists to perform system testing, and develop process improvement strategies based on laboratory data.
ResponsibilitiesInterface with customers to understand their needs and project requirements.Develop a scope of work and provide technical solutions using existing systems.Participate in design validation, including pilot plant equipment and laboratory testing.Design pilot plant test plans and develop the necessary processing equipment.Collaborate with pilot plant technicians and chemists to perform system testing.Develop process improvement strategies based on laboratory data.Perform heat and mass balance, hydraulic calculations, and determine optimal equipment for the processes.Interpret technical data and information to determine proposals and costs.Manage projects from start to finish, including negotiating pricing and quotes from vendors.Prepare material cost estimates for thermal systems.Provide technical support and information to clients throughout the project lifecycle.Essential SkillsProficiency in Chemical Engineering.Experience with heat and mass balance (HMB).Understanding of Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID).Knowledge of high volume liquid throughput processes.Experience with evaporators, crystallizers, ion exchange, membrane exchange, membrane filtration, desalination, and zero liquid discharge.Familiarity with turbines, pumps, and flow rates.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to work collaboratively with a skilled team.Strong technical aptitude and creative problem-solving skills.Experience in R&D environments is a plus.Work Environment
You will work on-site every day in the R&D Facility located in Hartland. You will interact with customers, vendors, engineers, chemists, and lab technicians. The role involves working with every level of the organization to develop and validate plans based on the scope of work and pilot plant equipment. The typical work shift is Monday through Friday, with flexible start times between 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., working 40 to 45 hours per week. Additional hours may be required during critical deadlines or issues, but weekend work is rare.
