We are currently looking for a Field Advisor for our Chemical Engineer I position within UOP.  

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work in the U.S. and around the world as part of a Field Operating Service (FOS) team, supported by technology experts from UOP’s Operating Technical Service. 

FOS advisors are on-site prior, during and after the initial start-up of UOP technologies. They help to ensure that the plant and operators are ready for commissioning. Advisors are also involved in the start-up and test runs that demonstrate guarantees and are accountable for process, equipment, refining and petrochemical insight and assist customers in resolving engineering and operating issues.  

UOP advisors may remain at a site for a few days to several months before moving to the next assignment. For each start-up, advisors work with several UOP-licensed processes and with a variety of individuals within and outside of UOP. The experience gained from each assignment, and the subsequent interaction with other UOP employees, provide a solid background for assessing and solving problems encountered in each situation in various locations around the world.  

As advisors gain experience, they have opportunities to advance to positions of increased accountability within the FOS organization. Once the experience has been gained in FOS, engineers may choose to pursue positions in UOP’s Technical Service, Engineering, Equipment, Development, Manufacturing or Sales groups. Regardless of the path they choose the experience gained in FOS is key to both personal development and the ability to contribute towards the continued success of our customers.

The annual base salary or/ hourly pay range for this position is $78,400 - $98,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

\n\nProvide technical field assistance during the checkout and start-up of new or revamped refinery units.\nOffer field technical support for development activities in commercial refinery units.\nEnsure adherence to safety procedures.\nProvide feedback, including suggested improvements, on UOP process designs.\nTroubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, focusing on innovation and improvement.\nFamiliarize with controls communications networks.\nCoordinate commissioning activities.\nTransfer technology to customers' operating and engineering staff.\nReview emergency and normal operating procedures with customer shift operating personnel.\nAdvise customer operating personnel on establishing and maintaining process variables for safe and efficient operations.\nCollect and analyze unit operating data and laboratory results.\nMonitor and advise on process operating conditions during test runs.\nEstablish effective relationships with customer counterparts.\nConduct unit audits to support refinery-wide expansion projects and new multi-unit complex startups.\nProvide guidance to customer personnel for routine long-term operations of UOP process units.\nTravel up to 100% full-time for project duration\n

YOU MUST HAVE

\n\nBachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics\n1+ years of experience in the Petrochemical, Gas processing or Refining industry \nExperience with typical refinery field instrumentation, and various PLC and DCS vendor systems is preferred\n\n
