**Job Title: Production Technician**
**Job Description**
The Production Technician will efficiently operate a specialty chemicals plant, working with powdered chemicals used in the polymer making process for plastics and waste water treatment plants. The role requires working at elevated heights and consistent movement between four levels of the facility. Initially, candidates will shadow other operators, document processes, and perform basic tasks. Once trained, the technician will ensure the safe and environmentally sound operation of the plant, including utilities, bulk storage, and warehouse.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate plant machinery and equipment as necessary.
+ Perform repetitive tasks and remain stationary for extended periods.
+ Open and close valves, monitor instrumentation panels, and report findings from gauges.
+ Dump 10-kilo bags into containers, utilize basic math skills, and track and monitor plant data.
+ Climb ladders and operate forklifts.
+ Perform manual duties, lifting up to 50 lbs.
+ Stay current on operating procedures, emergency procedures, safety, and policies.
+ Move about the premises daily and between buildings, exposed to elements and weather conditions.
+ Independently follow verbal and written instructions.
+ Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
+ Use forklifts, industrial scales, power tools, and hand tools.
+ Perform maintenance on equipment as needed.
+ Troubleshoot minor maintenance defects.
+ Train for 1-2 weeks before starting independent work.
**Essential Skills**
+ Ability to work at elevated heights and move between facility levels.
+ Ability to perform repetitive tasks and remain stationary for extended periods.
+ Basic math skills.
+ Effective communication with all levels of staff and management.
+ Ability to follow verbal and written instructions precisely.
+ Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Ability to use forklifts, industrial scales, power tools, and hand tools.
+ Troubleshooting and minor maintenance skills.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Previous chemical experience is not required.
+ Open to both experienced and trainable candidates.
+ Packaging experience is a plus.
+ Some electrical experience for instrumentation is preferred.
+ Must pass a physical, fit test, and pulmonary function test.

**Work Environment**
The clean room is air-conditioned, while the rest of the plant is not. The facility has multiple levels, requiring walking up and down stairs throughout the day. The plant environment includes exposure to dry chemical materials, dust, noise, fluctuating temperatures, and hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals. Shifts run for 8 hours and rotate every two weeks: 7-3, 3-11, 11-7, Monday through Friday. Personal protective equipment, including full-face respirators and Tyvek suits, is required for 3-4 hours each day.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, Virginia.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
