We are hiring a Chemical Operator at our Curtis Bay plant in Baltimore, MD!
The Chemical Operator assists production in maintaining safety, health, and environmental standards and will handle, store, and transport chemical material(s); operate, monitor, and control continuous and batch processes; troubleshoot the process; provide routine minor maintenance to process equipment and instrumentation.
Schedule: 12-hour, rotating shifts including days and nights, holidays and weekends.
Week 1: On-schedule for 4 consecutive night shifts, then 3 days off Week 2: On-schedule for 3 regular day shifts, off for 1 day, then on for 3 more night shifts Week 3: 3 days off, then on the schedule for 4 consecutive day shifts Week 4: 7 days off Responsibilities Operate chemical processing equipment following standard operating procedures Act as a safety leader. Comply with all plant environmental, health, safety, and process safety standards and procedures. Report hazards, deviations, and injuries in a timely manner Perform process equipment troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in all assigned areas Utilizes technology such as PCs for reporting and communication Participates in training initiatives as required, attends required meetings and completes required testing within specified time frames Monitor plant equipment and control plant operations Operates forklift Communicates plant status with relief and coworkers Records plant process, quality and environmental data May be assigned other duties that are equivalent in skill to job requirements Physical Requirements and Environment Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Required Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Ability to read write and type the English language Ability to read and comprehend detailed specifications, including computer graphical user interface and basic math ability Employee must successfully complete the Skills Assessment Employee must successfully pass a background check and drug screen prior to employment.
