**Job Title: Chemical Production Technician**
**Job Description**
The Production Technician is responsible for the efficient operation of a specialty chemicals plant. This role involves working with powdered chemicals used in the polymer-making process, typically utilized in plastics and waste water treatment plants. The candidate must be able to work at elevated heights and navigate between four levels of the facility.
**Responsibilities**
+ Shadow other operators and document processes during the initial phase.
+ Operate plant machinery and equipment, including opening and closing valves and monitoring instrumentation panels.
+ Report findings from gauges and instrumentation panels.
+ Dump 10-kilo bags into containers and utilize basic math skills to track and monitor plant data.
+ Climb ladders and operate a forklift.
+ Perform manual duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
+ Stay current on operating procedures, emergency procedures, safety, and policies.
+ Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
+ Use forklifts, industrial scales, power tools, and hand tools.
+ Perform maintenance on equipment as needed and troubleshoot minor maintenance defects.
+ Follow verbal and written instructions precisely and perform independently on assignments.
**Essential Skills**
+ Ability to work at elevated heights and navigate between levels of the facility.
+ Ability to perform repetitive tasks and remain stationary for extended periods.
+ Basic math skills for tracking and monitoring plant data.
+ Effective communication skills with all levels of staff and management.
+ Forklift operation experience.
+ Basic maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Previous chemical experience is not required; open to both experienced and entry-level candidates willing to learn.
+ Some electrical experience preferred for instrumentation.
+ Ability to pass a physical, fit test, and pulmonary function test..
**Work Environment**
The work environment includes a clean room that is air-conditioned, while the rest of the plant is not. Employees will need to walk up and down stairs throughout the day. The plant is a typical chemical plant environment with exposure to dust, noise, fluctuating temperatures, and flammable and toxic materials. Employees will work eight-hour shifts, rotating every two weeks between the following shifts: 7 AM to 3 PM, 3 PM to 11 PM, and 11 PM to 7 AM. The role requires wearing a full-face respirator or Tyvek hood and a Tyvek suit for 3-4 hours each day.
**Job Location**
This position is based out of North Chesterfield, Virginia.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

**Workplace Type**
