The primary purpose of this position is to perform stability testing on Regulated production batches to assure they meet In house specification and all USP, FDA and company requirements / regulations. This testing includes standard test methods with set specification and organoleptic testing that requires the ability to make decisions on subjective tests (color, odor, and visual uniformity). Daily analysis will include physical and chemical testing using wet chemistry techniques and analytical instrumentation. Also responsible for data entry, evaluation, document retention and informing appropriate personnel of critical issues when necessary. Will be assigned several projects simultaneously. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with chemists and management. 75%: Testing of OTC finished products. These tests include the following: Instrumental analysis (HPLC/UPLC, ICP, Karl Fischer), wet chemistry (titration) and organoleptic testing (interpretation of subjective specifications in color, odor and appearance). The candidate, over time, should be able to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision and be accountable for completing assigned tasks in the appropriate timeframe. The candidate should also have the decision-making skills that enables them to recognize stability issues that need to be brought to management's attention. As experience and skill increase, the candidate may be involved in the investigation of any Out of Specification results. 20%: As part of “completing assigned tasks, the candidate will be required to write reports, perform database entry and record keeping along with inventory maintenance and filing. 5%: Lastly, the candidate will be required to contribute to lab maintenance, take part in ordering consumables, and perform other tasks as assigned. Qualifications · Must have working knowledge of analytical techniques (conventional and instrumental, including chromatography and emission spectrometry) and all instrumentation typically found in a well-equipped pharmaceutical analysis lab. · Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel; Access a plus). Waters Empower experience a plus. · Must have knowledge of OTC and FDA guidelines and applied knowledge of GMPs. · Must have demonstrated problem solving skills with ability to conduct root cause analysis in laboratory investigations. · Must have excellent oral & written communication skills and strong organizational skills. · Must be able to work additional time as needed. · Experience in high throughput lab a plus. · Cosmetic and pharmaceutical experience a plus. · BA or BS in Chemistry, Biology or Biochemistry · 1-2 Years (Entry Level Position) The anticipated base salary range for this position is $22.00 to $37.00. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.
