Job Description
The Method Development and Analytical Services (MDAS) Research Assistant provides laboratory support and performs analytical testing supporting the development of new pharmaceutical products. The MDAS Research Assistant is an entry-level scientist who receives training, supervision, and hands-on experience performing testing for release, stability, and product characterization.
ResponsibilitiesAssist in the execution of the laboratory work necessary for the commercialization of pharmaceutical products.Perform hands-on laboratory bench work preparing solutions and processing samples for testing in accordance with approved procedures and methods.Conduct laboratory work with a high degree of accuracy and precision, including quantitative weighing, dilution, sample handling, and processing.Ensure all laboratory work is documented in accordance with approved procedures.Perform and maintain labeling for solutions and samples and maintain an organized workspace to avoid mix-ups.Process sample data to determine reported results and ensure they are appropriately reported in designated computerized systems and/or directly to stakeholders.Review data to ensure conformance with specifications and trends, and immediately report unexpected data to laboratory management for further investigation.Comply with laboratory procedures and SOPs, following written and verbal directions from chemists to execute tasks.Develop skills and independence commensurate with training and experience.Build knowledge and proficiency through training and guidance to increase manual skills and competence on instrumental analysis using HPLC, GC, dissolution, UV-visible spectrophotometry, and other techniques as applicable.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science.Academic knowledge of chemistry, mathematics, and laboratory concepts.Academic exposure and knowledge of the majority of the following: HPLC, GC, UV-Vis spectroscopy, titration, and wet chemistry.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in a laboratory setting is preferred.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Work Environment
Monday through Friday, 1st shift. The work involves using various laboratory equipment and technologies in a controlled environment, adhering to standard laboratory practices and procedures
