Job Title: Chemist
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Chemist to oversee refinery processes and fuel additive projects. The ideal candidate will manage product lines, perform application tests, and conduct various laboratory tests such as corrosion testing, acid value, titration, and viscosity. The role also involves coordinating multiple projects, maintaining laboratory equipment, and analyzing test data to resolve technical problems. The Chemist will support the project team, write and present technical reports, and provide product recommendations for the sales group and customers.

ResponsibilitiesOversee refinery process and fuel additive projects and work requests.Manage product lines including manufacturing support, performance screening, development, and maintenance.Plan and perform application tests.Conduct laboratory testing including corrosion testing, acid value, titration, and viscosity.Ensure stability testing of fuel and oil products.Coordinate multiple projects using knowledge of chemistry, raw materials, and analysis techniques.Operate and maintain laboratory equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and scheduling repairs.Collect and analyze test data to understand, explain, and resolve technical problems.Assist project team; attend and participate in group and project meetings.Write and present technical reports and presentations on testing procedures and project results, and communicate results to internal and external customers.Assist product managers and stewards with product line support.Maintain product documents.Provide product and treat rate recommendations for the sales group and customers.Essential SkillsProficiency in chemistry, formulation, laboratory procedures, quality control, and analytical chemistry.Experience in research and development, specifically with fuel additives.Expertise in stability testing, corrosion testing, titration, and viscosity measurements.Knowledge of gas chromatography (GC) and atomic absorption (AA) techniques.Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.At least 2 years of experience working within an industrial chemical lab, ideally in the energy industry or oil refinery.Experience with lab techniques such as acid values, titration, and viscosity.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong organizational and project management skills.Excellent communication skills for writing reports and presenting results.Ability to work collaboratively within a team.Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Work Environment

This is a lab-intensive role that involves working with various laboratory equipment and techniques. The candidate will spend a significant amount of time performing tests and maintaining equipment in a laboratory setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $38.46/hr.
