Job Title: Associate Analytical Chemist - Inorganic ChemistryJob Description
We are seeking an Associate Analytical Chemist specializing in Inorganic Chemistry to join our team. This role focuses on elemental testing, specifically for heavy metal contaminants and mineral testing in food products. The objective is to ensure that elements such as Arsenic, Cadmium, Mercury, Lead, Antimony, Tin, and Nickel are not present in food items.
Responsibilities
+ Weigh and perform sample digestions
+ Set samples for ICP-MS instrument
+ Weigh samples with analytical balances, ensuring consistency in weight
+ Prepare samples for instrument analysis on ICP-MS
+ Utilize microwaves for sample preparation
+ Perform basic cleaning duties, including cleaning and scrubbing vessels and stocking supplies
+ Engage in repetitive lab work for a period of 6 months
+ Potential to fast track to Instrument Lead if possessing instrument experience
Essential Skills
+ B.S. degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related STEM field
+ Experience in the food service industry or bartending, ideally in a fast-paced environment
+ Proficiency in aseptic technique
+ Quick learner
+ High attention to detail with proper documentation and organizational skills
+ Self-motivated and able to work independently
+ Team player
+ Strong work ethic and coachable
+ Reliable
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in biology, microbiology, aseptic technique, chemistry, biochemistry
+ Education reimbursement available for full-time employees after six months of service and in good employment standing
Work Environment
This role is based in a lab setting with over 400 employees. The lab specializes in testing food and dietary supplements for nutritional value in a fast-paced environment, which can be repetitive depending on the group. The facility includes a variety of advanced instruments such as UPLC, HPLC, GC, and LCMS technologies. The lab relocated to a new facility on the East side of Madison in January 2021, designed to conduct food chemistry testing. This includes testing on infant formula, sole-source nutrition products, hemp and CBD, dietary supplements, and a variety of botanicals.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.89 - $22.89/hr.
