Job Title: Chemist (Aerospace/Electronic Materials) Summary:We are seeking a creative, business-minded, and results-driven technical professional to lead innovative projects within our electronic materials division, serving high-impact industries such as aviation, aerospace, and automotive. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with a global, cross-functional team of experts in product development, marketing, sales, sourcing, process technology, and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving cutting-edge solutions, maintaining rigorous safety standards, and integrating sustainable practices into the design of next-generation products. Responsibilities Include: + Develop new innovative silicone RTV products. + Provide continuous improvement for production of existing products. + Strengthen the supply chain for raw materials needed to produce existing products. + Work safely in the laboratory and manufacturing setting to minimize risks and improve sustainability when designing new experiments, products, or processes. + Design new formulated silicone products for the electronic materials and aerospace business. Lead new product development through laboratory, pilot, and commercial scale, working alongside process technology, quality, and manufacturing partners. + Apply project management skills to assess program gaps and identify resources needed to meet targets and milestones. + Investigate property-structure relationships, analyze product failure modes, and identify key process parameters. Distill high-level theoretical concepts into practical, useful solutions. + Leverage technical networks and collaborate across business units within Momentive to understand business opportunities for new product development. + Support manufacturing, quality and supply chain functions with technical troubleshooting . + Gain a thorough understanding of the patent landscape relevant to new product development and generate intellectual property. + Completes other duties as assigned Travel: + 10% Qualifications: The following are required for the role + PhD in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or relevant physical science with 2+ years of experience, or a Masters degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering or relevant physical science with 5+ years of industry experience. + Must be able to work on export controlled and ITAR projects. + Demonstrated ability to work safely in a chemical laboratory and chemical manufacturing setting. Ability to identify and mitigate safety risks. + Demonstrated understanding of structure–property relationships and the ability to design new molecular structures/materials/formulations based on the customer’s performance needs. + Strong team player with the ability to lead successfully. Sufficient knowledge to guide others in laboratory research. Willing to coach and mentor others in program development upon gaining experience. + Effective oral and written communication skills to concisely explain complex technical concepts in simple terms and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business including customers. + Proven problem-solving and project execution skills. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a cross-functional environment. + Enthusiasm to learn and desire to work collaboratively with a diverse team. The following are preferred for this role: + Hands-on knowledge of silicone chemistry and formulation of silicone products. + Hands on knowledge of characterization and formulation with silicone polymers, particulate fillers and additives. + Experience translating products from laboratory scale to pilot and production scale. + Experience with basic statistics, experimental design, and data analysis (Design of Experiments). familiarity with software like DesignExpert® or Minitab®. + Application of AI to organize complex data, understand trends and solve technical problems. Local geographic pay differentials may not be reflected in the above pay range and will be discussed with you by a member of the HR team when applicable .
