Hours:Monday-Saturday11:30pm-8am Sat 10pm-7:00am

PURPOSE OF JOB: 

The Chemistry Laboratory Technician II performs laboratory analyses and tests. Prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests and reads, interprets and releases results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sets up and runs laboratory tests.Read and release test results.Prepare and fill all reagents for the Immunoassay analyzer.Keep track of reagent supplies and maintain inventory on the lots and expiration dates of all reagents used.Operate and troubleshoot the Olympus AU and/or Immunoassay analyzer.Perform routine testing which may include Immunoassay analyzer, Free T4 ED and other RIA tests, Protein electrophoresis, and Olympus testing.Exercises judgment in evaluating and reporting results.Check Reconcile pending and queue lists daily.Ensure that manifests submissions are managed properlyEnter BIORAD QC into QA software when necessaryRun verifications.Performs equipment maintenance activities.Calibrate and run Quality Control on the machines and assist with daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of the machines.Comply with all QA policies and protocols.Cross-train and develop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab.Report any technical/QC problems to their lead tech or supervisor.Applies job skills and lab policies and procedures to complete a variety of tasks.Reads, understands and follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.  Maintains clean and organized work area.  Restocks supplies as needed.May be cross-trained to perform other duties, such as performing less complex tests.  EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent with 6 months experience as a Chemistry Lab Aide, 1 year Vet Technician experience and/or 2, 3 or 4 year degree in Science-related field. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:   

Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments preferred.Knowledge of lab equipment and procedures.Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology and Chemistry procedures and equipment is helpful. General science backgroundAttention to detailOrganized with ability to multi-task in a fast paced environmentAbility to work independently and as part of a teamCommunication skills, both verbal and writtenPositive, can-do attitudeKnowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as appropriatePersonal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office
