CHEMISTRY TECHNICIAN – Plant Farley
We currently have opportunities located at our Plant Farley facility for Chemistry Technicians. As a Chemistry Technician at Plant Farley, near Dothan, Alabama, your expertise and training will play a critical role in minimizing impurity ingress to ensure component and system protection, maintaining fuel integrity, and controlling the radiation field of the operating units. The anticipated hiring timeframe for these positions will likely be end of Q2 2025.
Summary of Position Duties
Job responsibilities include water sampling and analysis, chemical additions to plant systems, chemical analyses, radio-chemistry, laboratory Quality Assurance and Quality Control analyses, field monitoring, preparing reports. Also assumes responsibility for chemical control of gas and water systems and maintaining the sewage treatment plant.
Education
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Physics or other Physical Science major or equivalent as determined by management; with BS degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, preferred. In lieu of the degree one of the following criteria are considered equivalent: Qualification as U.S. Navy Engineering Laboratory Technician (ELT). Completion of accredited nuclear industry chemistry technician training course.Experience
Three years nuclear power plant experience preferred. One year laboratory experience preferred, which may include college laboratory experience. Industrial work environment experience preferred.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Demonstrated commitment to safe laboratory practices. Knowledge of laboratory analytical techniques and applied power plant water conditioning concepts. Analytical instrumentation, make up demineralizers, ion exchange resin principles, chemical and physical properties. Familiar with environmental sampling, methods, requirements and practices. Working knowledge of computer software programs.Behavior Attributes

Other Requirements
This position will require shift work which includes nights, weekends, call outs and holidays. This position requires Emergency Response Organization (ERO) coverage. This position is subject to random drug testing. This position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. This position will require personnel to work in the industrial plant environment. This includes working in hot areas, radiological areas, at heights, and in areas that requires ascending and descending ladders and steps.This position is covered under a collective bargaining unit and will pay at an hourly rate of $40.55/hr.
