Chief, Abdominal Transplant Program Division of Immunology & Organ Transplantation **Location:** Texas Medical Center-Houston, Texas **Category:** Faculty McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston Requisition #: 240002ED **Chief, Abdominal Transplant Program** **Division of Immunology and Organ Transplantation - McGovern Medical School** The Department of Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) seeks a dynamic and collaborative leader dedicated to advancing the clinical, research, and educational missions of the Division of Immunology & Organ Transplantation. The division currently has 13 clinical faculty physicians strong, including four Transplant Surgeons, four Transplant Nephrologists, and five Transplant Hepatologists. Additionally, the HLA Lab Director and Associate Director are faculty in the division, and there are seven Advanced Practice Providers. The faculty see patients at the Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center Transplant Center. The abdominal transplantation program, which has a shared governance model between Memorial Hermann Hospital and McGovern Medical School, provides a full complement of the most advanced inpatient and outpatient services, both surgical and nonsurgical, for patients requiring abdominal organ transplants. Led by a multi-disciplinary team of expert transplant surgeons, nephrologists, and hepatologists, our program employs cutting-edge surgical techniques and pre- and post- transplant care to optimize clinical and patient-centered outcomes. In particular, we have successfullygrownthelivingdonorkidneytransplantprogramtobe\#1inthecountryinthe ratio of live to deceased donor kidney transplantation, all while maintaining outstanding donor and recipient outcomes. We employ robotic-assisted surgical techniques to optimize donor recovery time andoutcomes. **Qualifications:** Candidates for the Chief position should have a medical degree, have fellowship training in abdominal transplant surgery in an American Society of Transplant Surgeons-accredited program, be eligible for a Texas Medical License, be UNOS-certified or eligible as a Primary Surgeon,haveservedinanacademicleadershiproleinaschoolofmedicine,andbequalified forappointmentasaseniorlevelfacultymember.Potentialcandidatesmusthaveexperience in managing a clinical abdominal transplant practice and have a successful track record of accomplishments leading research, training programs and interdisciplinaryteams.
