Red Hat CTO Office is looking for a Chief Architect in Tokyo, Japan. Chief Architects are senior-level architects who engage in strategic conversations with customers to address their most pressing business and technology challenges. Focused on application development and platform engineering, the Chief Architect for Japan will leverage their expertise to modernize customer technology platforms, implement reusable architecture patterns, and foster platform engineering practices. The role includes serving as an advocate for Red Hat's open-source solutions while aligning customer needs with Red Hat’s evolving technology portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess fluency in Japanese and strong English communication skills, enabling them to represent Red Hat effectively in both local and international settings.
What You’ll Do:
Customer Advocacy and Relationship Building:
Serve as a trusted advisor for key customers, identifying strategic use cases for application modernization and platform engineering.
Understand customer business and technical challenges, advocating for solutions that align with Red Hat’s offerings and emerging technologies.
Collaborate with key customers to modernize their technology platforms using best-in-class application development and platform engineering practices.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior customer stakeholders, including IT and business leaders, enabling long-term strategic relationships.
Platform Engineering advocacy:
Define and articulate application development strategies and platform engineering practices that align with Red Hat’s practices and portfolio.
Help customers adopt platform engineering principles, promoting internal efficiencies and scalability through reusable blueprints, DevOps, and GitOps methodologies.
Lead initiatives to define repeatable architecture patterns and validate them with customer implementations.
Thought Leadership:
Represent Red Hat at technical events, industry forums, and conferences, showcasing expertise in application development and platform engineering.
Provide industry insights and share technical collateral, including architectural blueprints, prototypes, and reusable assets.
Collaboration and Enablement:
Work with regional field teams to define emerging patterns and document solutions in a reusable format, such as code, architectural diagrams, or technical blueprints.
Partner with marketing to create and deliver high-value events tailored to the Japanese market.
Community Engagement:
Act as a bridge between Red Hat and the open-source community, facilitating knowledge sharing and contributions.
Contribute to or actively participate in relevant upstream communities, sharing insights and collaborating on innovative solutions.
What You’ll Bring:
Proven expertise in application development, platform engineering, and related practices, with a minimum of 10 years in relevant roles.
Comprehensive understanding of DevOps, GitOps, cloud-native application platforms, and modern development frameworks.
Strong ability to define complex domain architectures from logical, functional, and technical perspectives.
Knowledge of reusable architecture patterns and a track record of implementing them in customer engagements.
Fluency in Japanese and strong English communication skills, including experience delivering presentations to technical and business audiences.
Experience in presenting at technical conferences, industry forums, or public events, showcasing thought leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience presenting at international technical events, conferences, or industry forums.
Contributions to or active participation in open-source communities.
Understanding of Architecture patterns definition using GitOps, DevSecOps, Infrastructure-as-Code and containerization technologies like Kubernetes and OpenShift.
