The CCO oversees compliance efforts across the institution and provides strategic direction, leadership, and guidance on compliance-related initiatives, accountability, risk management, and supports the development and maintenance of university policies. Contract Type MUS If other, please specify Recruitment Type Open Position Details General Statement The Chief Compliance Officer ( CCO ) is responsible for overseeing the University’s overall compliance withfederal, state, and university regulations, policies, and standards. The CCO oversees compliance efforts across the institution and provides strategic direction, leadership, and guidance on compliance-related initiatives, accountability, risk management, and supports the development and maintenance of university policies. Key areas of focus include the Jeanne Clery Act, policy review and development, case management systems, and mandatory training development and coordination to support adherence to federal, state and university regulations. This role collaborates with various stakeholders to foster a culture of compliance, ethics, and inclusivity within the university community. Duties and Responsibilities Leadership and Strategy + Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy for the university. + Provide expert advice to university leadership on regulatory changes and risk management. + Foster a culture of ethical behavior and accountability. Policy Development and Maintenance + Oversee the creation, review, and approval of university policies. + Ensure policies align with legal and institutional standards. + Collaborate with colleges and departments to address policy-related concerns. + Collaborate with affiliate campuses to coordinate and monitor policy adoption and implementation. Compliance and Risk Management + Monitor compliance with federal and state regulations (e.g., Jeanne Clery Act, Title IX, HB946). + Serve as campus coordinator for OCHE Enterprise Risk Management efforts. + Assist as directed by legal counsel to develop and mitigate compliance risks. Training and Communication + Help to develop, coordinate, and track mandatory compliance training for employees and students. + Promote awareness of compliance policies and procedures. + Serve as a primary point of contact for compliance inquiries and concerns. Collaboration and Reporting + Work closely with internal departments (e.g., legal, human resources, student affairs) to align compliance efforts. + Serve on university committees related to compliance efforts as assigned by legal. + Coordinate and lead University Compliance Committee meetings on topic areas important to the relevant compliance groups across campus. + Prepare reports for university leadership and regulatory bodies. + Serve as a liaison with external regulatory agencies. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills + Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., law, business, or public administration). + Extensive experience in compliance, risk management, or related fields. + Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations relevant to higher education. + Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills. Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills + Master’s degree or JD in law or compliance-related fields. + Experience in higher education compliance. + Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams. + Experience drafting and implementing institutional policies. The Successful Candidate Will + Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. + Ability to navigate and resolve complex legal and ethical issues. + Proficiency in policy and case management systems. + Strong organizational and analytical skills.
