Overview Responsible for the overall quality of the Bank’s lending portfolio including providing direction and oversight of all organizational credit functions. This includes formulating credit policies and procedures to enhance the Bank’s credit risk framework. The Chief Credit Officer serves as a principal liaison between the company, the Board of Directors, and all regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with banking legislation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead a high-performing team consisting of Credit Officers, Commercial Loan Underwriters, Credit Analysts, Credit Administration and Special Assets to maintain appropriate risk management processes to support the loan portfolio consistent with the risk tolerance of the Bank. Partner with the lines of business to assess lending activity and support growth initiatives while balancing risk appetite to minimize credit losses. Exercise oversight of the Bank’s risk management and credit administration to control risk in the Bank’s credit portfolio and minimize credit losses. Monitor the credit portfolio through periodic reviews of all underlying data. Coordinates the development or revision to policies and procedures to ensure adherence to sound underwriting best practices, laws, and regulations. Ensures a strong process to risk rate the Bank’s loans and make impairment decisions; partners with Finance to formulate the Bank’s Loan Loss Reserve. Oversees all credit metrics including delinquencies, criticized and classified loans, OREO and all workout or default situations to minimize potential loss. Manage cross-functional relationships with numerous stakeholders across the organization. Provide thought leadership and enhancements to the overall growth process including influence on key decisions, policies, strategies, internal controls and standards to drive efficiency and best practices. JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree required with emphasis in accounting, finance, or other applicable discipline. Master’s degree preferred, but not required. Minimum of 15 years of banking experience with 5 or more years of credit related experience. Minimum of 10 years of management/supervisory experience. Advanced knowledge of commercial, consumer, commercial real estate, and mortgage lending. Excellent credit skills with the ability to effectively decision complex loan structures. Must be decisive and possess strong analytical and judgment skills. Must be a self-starter with excellent time management to meet necessary deadlines and business demands. Demonstrated success in developing relationships at all levels, internally and externally. Excellent communication/presentation skills; can effectively navigate sensitive, complex communication with others. Come as you are.
