About The Role The Chief Credit Officer provides professional leadership in establishing overall objectives, policies and procedures in the area of credit administration and loan operations consistent with Glacier Bancorp guidance. Represents the division as an executive leader on all necessary committees and meetings at the Glacier Bancorp, Inc holding company level. Provides leadership and management to Commercial Loan Department personnel, including Credit Administration. The role involves guiding activities in accordance with the Bank’s goals, objectives, and overall strategy as it relates to its market and the overall credit. Directs financial policies and practices of the bank to ensure financial objectives, overall credit goals, and institutional growth are met in accordance with policies of the Bank President/CEO, Board of Directors, and government regulations. Responsible for creating and maintaining the credit culture of the division including enforcing Glacier Bancorp loan policies, approving new loans, recommending loan structure, monitoring credit concentration limits, and managing past due loans. This position also coordinates external loan audits, internal and external loan review programs, annual review by credit department personnel, and collateral documentation review systems, and monitors the company’s risk grading system. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITES AND DUTIES: Participates as a member of the Executive team in the development and execution of the Divisions long-range strategic goals. Leads and coordinates division management Loan Committee meetings Maintain positive on-going relationships with existing customer base. Serves on the weekly Glacier Executive Loan Committee. Serves as ex-officio member of the Division Board of Directors and Loan Committees Represents the Wheatland Bank division as the Chief Credit Officer and member of the executive management team on all necessary committees and meetings at the Glacier Bancorp, Inc. holding company level and is the voting member for WB on those committees. Represents Wheatland on all necessary committees and meetings at the Glacier Bancorp, Inc. holding company level and is a voting member for the Wheatland Bank on those committees. Leads and coordinates division Loan Committee meetings Creates a collaborative environment with Commercial Lending staff to achieve strategic objectives. Collaborate with the Division President/CEO as a member of the Executive team in reviewing processes and procedures, advising on policy questions, staffing requirements, and performance appraisals. Oversees the management of loan portfolio for completeness, soundness and adherence to loan policy and standards. Provides timely constructive feedback to employees to ensure compliance with division policies and to assist them in achieving their full potential. Provides training, assistance and mentorship to Loan Officers, Underwriters and Analysts. Provides oversite to loan operations, including loan servicing. Effectively document and address work/behavior/performance issues; consult with HR regarding formal disciplinary and/or termination procedures prior to acting. Effectively handle and resolve conflict and work with difficult employees and/or situations. Effectively and positively lead team through change while demonstrating positive attitude and behaviors. Manage direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company, including: hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and termination, as appropriate. Leads the implementation of new processes, procedures and software in the area of credit administration and loan operations. Ensures audit reviews receive satisfactory ratings. Initiates necessary corrective actions when audit standards are not being met. Recommends and implements changes in Commercial Loan Policy with GBCI. Oversee credit administration at the market level, which includes monitoring credit quality, past due credits, non-performing loans, and clearing outstanding loan conditions. Keeps management informed of key operating issues affecting the Loan Department and loan portfolios. Assists in the annual review and development of the loan policy. Maintains a strong credit culture within the commercial and retail lending operations. Provides guidance to loan officers and credit analysis staff on the company’s overall lending policy. Assembles information and reports pursuant to regulatory exams and outside audits. Maintain positive on-going relationships with existing customer base. Support department, division, and company initiatives. POSITION CONTACT: Day-to-day contact with Loan Officers, Loan Processor Supervisor, and executive management. Frequent contact with administrative and branch staff. Regular contact with GBCI administrative employees. Regular contact with the Board of Directors. About You QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or other related field is required. Minimum of ten years of Credit related experience in the community banking industry is required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY: Proven lending experience Proven supervisory experience Thorough knowledge of overall bank lending function and compliance issues Excellent MS Word and Excel skills Computer competency Accurate, punctual, alert, dependable, and professional in appearance Detail-oriented and organized Able to multi-task and prioritize Able to relate to others and relay information in a clear, precise manner WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
