Summary:

As the Senior Vice President/Chief Development Officer at Cook Children's, you will foster a culture of philanthropy within the organization. You will assure that the organization's corporate culture, systems and procedures support philanthropic efforts by providing leadership and management in partnership with the President and CEO, the board of trustees and other executive staff. In your role as the Chief Development Officer, you will also plan, and assure, implementation of strategies to develop comprehensive donor development systems including, but not limited to:

volunteer and donor management

major and principal giving

annual giving

donor research and cultivation

gift processing and recognition

The final part of your job will be to maintain accountability and compliance standards for donors and funding sources in support of the Health Care System and the Medical Centers.


Education & Experience:

A Bachelor's degree. An advanced degree is advantageous

5-8 years progressively responsible experience in fund raising, with first-hand experience in broad-based program and personnel management

A mastery of various fund-raising programs including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and corporate/foundation relations

Prior experience playing a key role in a major capital campaign is required

The skills and ability to develop and direct high-level gift and grant discussions, as well as an outstanding track record of personal solicitation calls on major individual, corporate, and foundation prospects

Prior health care experience is highly desirable

Previous experience in supporting, staffing, and working with volunteer leadership and governing boards

The capability and presence to guide the Board's development work in an appropriate manner

The ability to win respect from trustees, physicians, development staff, administrative staff, and current and prospective donors

Certification/Licensure:

CFRE designation is advantageous.
