Salary Range: $111,800.00 - $123,200.00

Position Summary

Supervises, monitors, and trains echocardiography specialist staff. Performs complex echocardiography techniques to assist in the safe and efficient diagnosis and assessment of patient conditions, in accordance with established procedures and manages data collection and organization of the Echocardiography Labs.

Job Responsibilities Attends workshops, seminars and/or conferences to keep abreast of standards and best practices within the field. Disseminates information to colleagues and/or staff as appropriate. Assists current and new employees in the use of systems/equipment and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for optimal staffing. Assigns staff to different sites as needed to maximize utilization of equipment and ensure adequate staffing to handle patient through-put of scheduled patients and same-day or emergent additions. Maintains current knowledge of various data acquisition protocols. Responsible for developing and providing in-service training to staff for new techniques, protocols, procedures or equipment. Recognizes problems/malfunctions of equipment and may assist in making minor adjustments. Monitors appropriate service action by outside contractors. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment in accordance with established procedures. Triages emergency calls from patients and physicians. Escalates as needed. Completes and distributes completed reports, digitized studies and videotapes as needed. Ensures patient safety is maintained at all times. Responsible for maintaining a sterile environment. Ensures standard infection control precautions are observed. Prepares and oversees lab accreditation and certification processes for new and existing labs. Manages the procurement process for equipment and is responsible for selection of echocardiography specific software and computer programs. Records data, calculations and measurements of echocardiograms according to its anomaly. Assists in the scheduling of patients requiring an echocardiogram. Performs echocardiograms and Doppler studies and explains procedures to patients and/or guardians. Utilizes portable equipment as necessary for performing echocardiograms on patients. Performs quality assurance related activities. Maintains statistics, checks equipment, performs preventative maintenance and initiates calls for equipment service as necessary. May develop, maintain and/or disseminate departmental or functional specific policies and procedures. May also be responsible for maintaining a departmental standard operating procedures (SOP) manual if available. Generates reports for analysis. Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and/or reagents. May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or ensure that needs are escalated appropriately. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery. May assist with cost control. Education Bachelor's Degree in related field Experience

Extensive sonography education, training and experience in the specialty area(s) to be performed.

A minimum of ten years academic hospital based experience.

Approximately 2 years of supervisory experience.

*For posiitons within Medicine/Cardiology, prospective candidates must demonstrate successful completion of at least 2 registries with 100% competency and independent performance of all exams in those specialty areas performed in the laboratory.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated working knowledge of echo-contrast and stress echocardiography. Knowledge/experience in vascular imaging is a plus. Licenses and Certifications RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association.
