Recruitment/Posting Title Chief Economist / Assistant or Associate Professor of Public Policy Department BSPPP - Dean's Office Salary Commensurate With Experience Posting Summary The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy (EJB) seeks to hire a full-time senior Assistant Professor or Associate Professor beginning July 2025. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should be close to achieving tenure. Candidates should have a specialty in labor economics with a focus on workforce development, education, and social programs, policies, and trends. Strong candidates will focus on empirical examinations of the impact of public policies that are designed to assist economically disadvantaged individuals in advancing in the U.S. labor market. We are especially interested in scholars who have a demonstrated commitment to applying an equity lens to their work and have a strong record of published empirical research and externally funded research projects.

The faculty member will teach courses in the Master of Public Policy and the school’s Ph.D. program and undergraduate programs in the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.As Chief Economist at the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development( www.heldrich.rutgers.edu) which is also located at the Bloustein School), the faculty member will lead and/or collaborate with colleagues in externally-funded research projects analyzing and evaluating U.S. labor market trends, policy interventions, and programs that are intended to help workers and job seekers advance in the labor market. The appointment of Chief Economist at the Heldrich Center is for 5 years and may be renewed. While actively serving at the Heldrich Center, the typical teaching load of two courses per semester will be reduced to one course each semester.
