The Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley is looking for a Chief Engineer who shares a passion for excellence and who infuses enthusiasm into everything they do. This position is an Assistant Division Head and eligible for an annual incentive based on performance. The Chief Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the hotel and physical building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire and safety, HVAC refrigeration, paint and design. The primary responsibilities for this position are to ensure our guests experience the highest level of service, and the maintenance of the hotel reflects this luxurious Four Seasons experience, respond to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ policies.
What you will do
The Chief Engineer is the person responsible for overseeing the Engineering department. The Chief Engineer reports to the General Manager and must have strong project management skills, mechanical aptitude, a strong work/ethic, and can adapt to changing priorities. The Chief Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the hotel and physical building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, fire and safety, HVAC refrigeration, paint and design.

The primary responsibilities for this position are to ensure our guests experience the highest level of service, and the maintenance of the hotel reflects this luxurious Four Seasons experience, respond to inquiries and problems in an efficient, courteous, and professional manner to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with all Four Seasons’ policies. operations for interior/exterior facilities including plumbing, refrigeration, heating/cooling, painting, carpentry, structural, recycling, electrical, ground care and parking areas.
Responsible for all Engineering Operations for the entire Resort facilities including, but not limited to electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC, commercial kitchen equipment, valet laundry equipment, painting, carpentry, hardware and locks, pools, spas, water features, grounds and landscape, and energy management/green initiatives.
Responsible for Life/Fire safety systems, energy/green initiative systems and management of other engineering work necessary to maintain the property in an efficient condition to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees. Respond to all emergency conditions such as fires, power failures, etc.
Implement preventive maintenance schedules, policies and rules to ensure an efficient department.
Support and align team on project management to deliver new building and service product.
Establish and maintain partnerships with the Resort Team and our Guests with a focus on helping everyone achieve their goals.
Strong project management skills, evidence a strong work/ethic, adaptability and flexibility and leadership skills.
Compile a monthly consumption report on heat, light and power to include electricity, gas, steam, and water. Support the energy conservation program allowing the Resort to meet its annual budget targets.
The ability to react and adjust to changing business environment and lead the team in ensuring efficient financial management of the business.
Control labor and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, policy making, and inventory control while focusing on creative cost control to maximize profit in the division and Resort.
Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools and monitor distribution of items.
Work closely with the General Manager/Planning Committee to share strategic plans. Establish and maintain partnerships with the Resort Team and our Guests with a focus on helping everyone achieve their goals.
Work harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors. Comply with Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in EmPact.
What you bring
Education:
High school education or equivalent required.
Professional degree/certifications in an Engineering discipline, trade degree in a specific technical field relating to Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering) or CEOE – Certified Engineering Operations Executive from the Hotel and motel Hospitality Association, Building Owners Management Institution (BOMI) designation, Real Property Administrator (RPA), Facility Management Administrator (FMA) or Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA).
Experience:
5+ years previous management experience in hotel or building engineering operations.
Previous experience in the US is preferred.
Previous experience in managing defect rectifications.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of mechanical systems, DDC controls, Building Management Systems, Preventive Maintenance Programs, CCTV systems, Fire Alarm/Life Safety Systems, local, state and federal regulations regarding property operations.
Knowledgeable of General building maintenance.
Experience along with professional certifications in Refrigeration and HVAC Systems.
Must be flexible with schedule - Able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, evening/overnight shifts.
Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
Ability to multi-task in a high volume and demanding environment.
Strong problem-solving skills, ability to handle difficult situations and guests.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to accomplish all major responsibilities and be willing to accept assignments on as need basis, in order to promote teamwork. This may include some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 Depending on Experience.
