Chief Engineer
**Chief Engineer** **Job Description** The Chief Engineer will work with a team of 24 maintenance personnel and collaborate with director teams. This hands-on position involves maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of building equipment and systems, performing preventive and unscheduled maintenance, and maintaining the physical plant. **Responsibilities** + Ensure the proper operation of life safety and HVAC control systems for the building. + Maintain the proper operation of all building equipment as directed. + Respond to service requests to reduce work orders and eliminate recurring problems. + Use PM-Works to complete preventive maintenance assignments and unscheduled maintenance tasks. + Inspect buildings for problems, troubleshoot possible issues, and provide repair solutions. + Collaborate with small house teams to promote resource sharing between departments and other households. + Participate in plant maintenance training programs and initiatives as suggested by the Director of Plant Services. + Comply with all safety and environmental procedures, including hazardous control, lockout-tag out programs, and other building awareness programs. + Inspect for building repairs, make necessary repairs, and escalate more complex repairs to management. + Develop and facilitate the preventive maintenance program for Vista Terrace and Pines Edge. + Conduct regular environmental rounds with leaders of each service area and ensure follow-through on identified maintenance needs. + Respond to emergencies in the building during off shifts. + Respond to radio calls promptly and professionally. + Meet department uniform, appearance, and comply with all OSHA safety regulations and local applicable health, safety, or environmental laws. + Perform duties requiring regular talking and hearing, frequent standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. + Meet general health requirements as set forth by company policies. + Lift up to 50 pounds. **Essential Skills** + Facilities maintenance + Mechanical + HVAC + Repair + Troubleshooting + Preventive maintenance **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + High School Diploma or equivalent + 5 years’ experience with plant operation, including life safety, utilities management, and equipment management + 5 years of supervisory experience + HVAC certification + Valid Driver’s License + Proficient with computer software programs **Why Work Here?** Join a dynamic team dedicated to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. During emergencies such as inclement weather or evaluations, you may be asked to stay onsite for 24 or more hours until the emergency ends.
