The Chief Engineer is a crucial on-site leadership role responsible for overseeing the engineering team and ensuring the efficient, safe, and responsible operation of all infrastructure systems and equipment supporting manufacturing processes. This position combines technical expertise with strong management skills to maintain facility operations and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the engineering team, including hiring, training, coaching, and personal developmentOversee maintenance tasks for facility infrastructure and production equipmentDiagnose and resolve mechanical and pneumatic issues in machines and equipmentDevelop and implement preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance proceduresManage engineering budget and participate in overall operating budget processAssist in developing capital improvement plansSelect, schedule, and supervise contractors, monitoring their performanceRespond effectively to emergencies and service callsLead technical, safety, and operational process training programsParticipate in client-facing and property team communicationsDemonstrate strong customer service and communication skills

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements:

7+ years of related experience, especially as a Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, or similarPeople management experience (leading a team)Universal CFC EPA certificationProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)

Physical requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and use ladders up to 30 feet tallPhysical capability for frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving

Preferred requirements:

Trade school education, union training, military service, or college degreeExperience in industrial maintenance or manufacturing environmentsKnowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and water treatmentFamiliarity with energy management and sustainability practicesProject management skills
