Chief Engineer

As a member of our hospitality team, the primary responsibility of the Chief Engineer is to manage all hotel maintenance operations, including building and grounds maintenance, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems. This role also manages the budget, coordinates with contractors and vendors, and maintains an inventory of parts and equipment. A crucial part of this role is to supervise the day-to-day operations of the department, fostering a positive work environment by engaging, leading, and working alongside associates in a friendly and professional manner.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Engineering department, ensuring the smooth functioning of equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems. Maintain all equipment in optimal and safe working conditions, striving for effectiveness, efficiency, and safety. Establish and implement a comprehensive room maintenance program to uphold the highest standards. Supervise the distribution and timely completion of repair work orders, ensuring the quality of workmanship. Conduct inspections effectively, addressing any issues promptly. Ensure all necessary permits and licenses for the building are obtained and kept current to comply with regulations and safety standards. Maintain accurate logs and records as required for smooth operations. Manage staffing levels to achieve exceptional guest service, and meet operational needs, and financial objectives. Assist in planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime. Establish priorities for total hotel maintenance needs, addressing them promptly and effectively. Manage parts, supplies, and equipment inventories efficiently, optimizing cash flow and minimizing disruptions. Demonstrate leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service and fostering a positive guest relations atmosphere. Interact with guests, seeking feedback on product quality and service levels, and handling guest issues and complaints effectively. Incorporate guest satisfaction as a focal point in departmental meetings, striving for continuous improvement.
