Job Description Summary:

The Chief Engineer role will provide and coordinate all engineering support for program execution, business development, and strategic planning for a Business Area. They are responsible for critical phase gate reviews and will manage and supervise the chief engineers across the Business Area. In addition, they will be responsible for program inputs to the Technology roadmaps as well as inputs on future critical skill development. They are also responsible for providing accurate skill based demand signals and demand signals for critical skills. They are expected to provide mission-level thought leadership and have system-of-systems level understanding across the portfolio. The Chief Engineer reports to the Vice President of Engineering.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

Provides and coordinates engineering support for program execution, business development and strategic planning.Responsible for program phase gate reviews consistent with the development roadmap.Oversees program, proposal and shaping and capture including resource allocation, staffing, facilities and capital equipment, and IRaD investments.Recommend improvements to business processes and follow up with executive leadership on initiatives.Ensures career development of employees; mentoring, growth assignments, professional seminars, and other educational opportunities.Responsible for Business Area inputs to the Technology Strategy and Technology RoadmapsSupervises chief engineers working with Business Area

Education
Master's degree or Doctorate in Engineering or relevant technical field and 5 years of relevant experience is required.
