We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Engineer for Gateway Lab Operations GRAIL to join the team with Nexus, a teammate company.

The Chief Engineer for Gateway Lab Operations GRAIL will\:

The Chief Engineer will be the expert supporting the GRAIL (Gateway Ready Avionics Integration Lab),a critical testing facility of the Gateway Program which will return to the Moon Chief expertise on facility and emulator design fidelity Chief expertise on development and integration of high-fidelity avionic hardware and software integration of the lab Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents Review integrated analysis of the GRAIL system, hardware and software in relation to other Gateway Systems and the operational environment Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews Review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall facility design and performance to inform decision making Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses with mitigation strategies Work and present lab fidelity to customers and boards/panels Perform other duties as required Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment​ *

This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related area and normally possess 10 years of experience in the field or in a related area. On location position - situational telework only Past experience in development and integration of a high-fidelity integration lab Understanding of electrical, mechanical and power systems Able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision Experience working in a team environment​

Requisition Preferences\:

BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school Past experience with NASA Past experience with Avionics is a plus​

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Other Essential Functions

Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
