Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering or construction management and extensive experience in estimation for commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction projects. This role involves both fieldwork for bidding and office-based project management tasks, reporting directly to the Vice President. The successful candidate will be groomed for a leadership role as the VP plans to retire in July 2026.

ResponsibilitiesConduct fieldwork for project bidding.Manage project estimation and submittals.Perform take-offs and prepare bids.Work closely with the project management team.Utilize Bid to Win software for estimating (training provided if necessary).Collaborate with junior estimators, project managers, and superintendents.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in engineering or construction management (preferred, but relevant experience can substitute).7+ years of experience as an estimator.Experience with commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction, particularly earth/dirt work.Proficiency in bidding, submittals, and take-offs.Familiarity with construction estimating software.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in preconstruction and project management.Knowledge of civil construction, highway construction, and industrial projects.Understanding of engineering blueprints and purchase orders.Work Environment

The role involves working onsite for bidding projects and in the office with the rest of the team. The team includes junior estimators, project managers, and superintendents, all reporting to the VP and President. The company has been established since the 1950s and is well-integrated into the area with consistent work across various sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, heavy highway, and some federal projects. The accounting department is efficient, typically closing invoices by the 5th of each month. This is a salaried position with eligibility for bonuses, car allowance, and cell phone allowance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $62.50/hr.
