Chief Financial Officer
Description We are in search of a Chief Financial Officer for a local nonprofit near Jeanette, Pennsylvania. As the CFO, you will be in charge of directing all financial, accounting, and investment activities, ensuring effective financial management practices that promote growth, financial stability, and community impact. This role falls within the finance industry and will be instrumental in shaping the organization's financial strategy. Responsibilities: • Formulate and execute long-term financial strategies in close collaboration with the CEO and Board Finance Committee. • Prepare routine expenditure reports and monthly and quarterly financial statements and analyses. • Oversee the annual budgeting process, engaging senior management in preparing a draft for Board approval. • Collaborate with senior management to ensure adherence to the annual budget throughout the year. • Establish and maintain relationships with banks, investment managers, and other financial partners. • Supervise the Staff Accountant in developing policies and procedures for vendor, contractor, supplier, and provider relations. • Propose community investment strategies that align with the organization's objectives. • Develop and enforce internal financial and cash management policies, ensuring compliance. • Establish and maintain accounting records and reports. • Oversee annual audit process and collaborate with the Audit Committee. • Manage organizational risk, including insurance coverage. • Negotiate procurement of goods and non-personal services. • Ensure all Financial and Administrative Systems comply with contract and audit requirements. • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding access to Protected Health Information. • Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, supervising and developing finance and accounting staff. • Manage costs related to employee benefits programs. • Coordinate fiscal matters related to contract negotiations and agreements with county representatives. • Provide fiscal best practices and standards guidance to senior management teams. • Oversee agency endowment relationships and planned giving income. • Lead the Finance Committee in complying with Board-approved investment policies. • Work with CEO and senior management on evaluation of potential physical property investments. • Develop a strong working relationship with the Governing Board, partnering with the Finance Committee chair on agendas and reports. • Present financial reports and strategic initiatives to the Board for approval. Requirements • Role requires a minimum of 7+ years of experience in a finance leadership role. • Active CPA license and/or prior nonprofit experience preferred. • Experience with Accounting Software Systems is necessary to manage, streamline, and automate financial operations. • The candidate must have a strong background in Accounting Functions to oversee the company's financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. • The applicant should be well-versed in Budget Processes for planning and controlling the company's finances. • The candidate must have expertise in Cash Flow Analysis to assess the company's financial health and stability.
