LOCATION: Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Center in Lancaster, PA
Schedule: Full time (40 hours per week/1.0 FTE). Monday through Friday between 8am-6pm, primarily 8 hours a day, occasional weekends, occasional on-call.
Summary:
+ Position Summary:
+ The Chief Medical Physicist is responsible for leading the dosimetry and physics team to ensure the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy treatment. The Chief Medical Physicist is responsible for collaborating with the entire radiation oncology team to continually improve processes and the patient experience.
+ Qualified individuals must have the ability with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties:
+ Oversees and supervises the clinically related work activities of clinical physics assignments
+ Responsible for the organization of the dosimetrists and physicists assigned to radiotherapy activities including brachytherapy .
+ Coordinates the clinical-medical physics work with the radiation oncologists, therapists, nurses and participates, for this purpose, in department operation committees, review clinical needs and update the state-of-art treatment planning and delivery technologies.
+ Develops and improves patient related services and physics-related quality assurance activities. This includes treatment machines, dosimetry equipment, treatment planning systems and associated data, as well as patient-specific treatment procedures.
+ Maintains written documentation of procedures, data and various evaluations and investigations.
+ Ensures that calibration, quality assurance, calculations and treatment plans for individual patients as well as the physics content of their charts are verified in accordance with national standards and regulations as well as departmental policy.
+ Ensures compliance with national standards and state and national regulations.
+ Participates in the department safety and quality programs.
+ The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
+ Actively works with the radiation oncology team to assure positive patient relationships and provide excellent customer service.
+ ​Responsible for supporting staff as necessary for clinical physics coverage, including vacation time, sick time, etc.
+ Serves as a role model for every time behaviors and sets appropriate expectations for staff.
+ Other duties as assigned
Responsibilities:
+ Minimum Required Qualifications:
+ Masters level or PhD in physics
+ Board certification in Radiation Oncology
+ 3-5 years experience in Medical Physics Management
+ A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.
+ Previous management leadership experience
