**POSITION PURPOSE**
Serves as a member of the St Joseph’s Health (SJH) senior leadership team. Provides clinical and administrative leadership for planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and evaluating safe high-quality patient care across the continuum to advance clinical practice and patient care consistent with the ANA Scope of Practice and American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Standards.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**
1. Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
2. Participates in the administration SJH as a full member of the senior leadership team, including strategic planning, execution, change management, and organizational decision-making. Develops and implements nursing’s mission, vision, values and strategic, short- and long-term goals and objectives, standards of care and operating plans for patient care services.
3. Collaborates with the senior leadership team in the development and implementation of operating and capital budgets.
4. Develops and implements ongoing measures/evaluation methods related to all dimensions of performance inclusive of budget and productivity targets.
5. Develops and implements plans, including education and required competencies that ensure staffing for safe high-quality patient care.
6. Ensures the recruitment, retention, development, succession planning for and engagement of quality patient care associates and leadership. Promotes an environment of shared leadership and decision making.
7. Participates in evaluating, selecting and integrating health care technology and information systems that support patient care.
8. In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer and the Chief Quality Officer, serves as a sponsor and develops and directs the implementation of effective evidence-based programs to measure, analyze and continuously improve the safety and quality of all patient care services through empiric outcomes.
9. Ensures compliance with all health care standards and requirements established by various licensing, regulatory and accreditation bodies.
10. Communicates on a regular basis with senior leaders, the medical staff, the board and other identified stakeholders’ achievements and concerns related to patient safety, quality, patient loyalty, associate engagement and physician satisfaction.
11. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
12. Responsible for the determining the types and numbers of staff necessary to provide nursing care for all patient care areas of the organization and standards of nursing practice

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
1. State Registered Nursing license
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree with appropriate Master's Degree in Nursing, Business or Health Administration. Doctoral education preferred.
3. Minimum of five (5) years executive/director level leadership experience in patient care in an acute care setting
4. Advanced knowledge of professional nursing practice in an executive or specialty practice area as evidenced through certification (e.g. CENP, NEA-BC, FACHE, etc.). Certification required within 18 months of hire.
5. Member of a professional nursing organization
6. A thorough understanding of the Electronic Medical Record, concepts of clinical informatics, and other advanced health care technologies
7. A thorough understanding of the health care environment and all applicable laws and regulations
8. In depth knowledge of system thinking, change leadership, shared governance, matrix reporting, continuous improvement, process excellence, and financial and productivity management
9. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with all members of the administrative and health care team
10. The ability to synthesize and interpret large amounts of clinical, quality, and financial data
11. Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills
12. Demonstrated ability to model the use of evidence-based leadership/practice, and project management skills.
13. Displays excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide advice, counsel and leadership to staff, physicians, patients and the community
**PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS**
Leadership and management skills necessary to foster the growth and development of direct reports, motivate individuals and teams, and resolve problems in a diplomatic professional manner.

These skills must also be used to effectively develop and foster collaborative working relationships with all levels of staff/management/leadership, influence results and gamer support.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills necessary to conceptualize ideas in an unstructured, fast paced, dynamic and multifunctional environment requiring creativity, innovation, foresight and mature judgment
**PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS**
1. Must be able to balance, manage and adapt to frequently changing work priorities, and be able to prioritize and balance the requirements of working with the System Office and Regional Health Ministries (RHMs).
2. Must be able to travel to the various Trinity Health sites as needed.
