ChristianaCare is currently looking for a dynamic leader to be the Advanced Practice Provider Chief of Acute Surgical Services. The Chief Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) will work collaboratively with surgical leadership, clinical leaders, and colleagues to provide leadership and support to all APCs within Acute Surgical Services and is a key leader in the Department of Surgery.

This position will be 80% administrative duties and 20% clinical duties in the area of their expertise.

Administrative Duties Include:

Has direct reports who are Lead APCs and/or APCs without a lead.

Support growth and development of APCs within the department as well as Lead APCs.

Conduct quarterly check-ins with direct reports.

Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders within the department and across the system.

Serve as a resource for all APCs within Acute Surgical Services.

Collaborate with leadership to monitor and evaluate disease specific data, population health data, patient satisfaction reports, and caregiver engagement reports as relates to metrics and identify opportunities.

Collaborate with leadership and recruitment regarding APC hiring needs and interview process.

Up to date on advanced practice regulations regarding scope of practice including telemedicine.

Ensure appropriate credentialing and privileging allowing optimization of APC scope of practice.

Ensure regularly scheduled huddles and team meetings are occurring.

Serves on departmental Professional Excellence Committee and Credentialing Committee with oversight for APC follow-up as needed.

Coordinate and/or actively participate in performance improvement initiatives, research, and organizational projects/programs, as assigned.

Ensure APC understanding of systemwide AOP goals and metrics.

Ensure APC expenses are within budget and fiscally responsible.

Serve as a resource, role model and mentor for all APCs.

Assist clinical and operational leaders with other duties, as indicated.

Requirements:

Completion of a master’s degree as an Acute Care NP or completion of a Physician Assistant programLicense or license eligible in the State of DelawareBLS required; ACLS depending on clinical roleMinimum of 10 years of clinical experience in a surgical setting preferredMinimum of 5-7 years of prior formal leadership experience required.
