Examples of Work + Develops policy and procedures for the division. + Ensures code enforcement section is enforcing laws, ordinances, regulations, and citing unlicensed contractors. + Ensures construction plans submitted for permitting are reviewed and inspected for compliance with codes. + Meets with customers to resolve construction and building code related problems. + Oversees budget preparation for division. + Coaches and provides direction and support to the managers, in charge of managing units within the division to insure positive outcomes and goal attainment that are responsive to customer needs. + Communicates clear direction, manages for results and leads organizational change. + Assigns responsibility, takes corrective action, demonstrates leadership in evaluating, developing and motivating employees. Open Requirements/Supplemental Information + The Chief shall possess a Standard Building Code Administrators license, pursuant to Section 468.609, Florida Statutes, and shall have been employed by the building inspection component of a municipal government for at least one year. + A preference shall be given to individuals who have had at least five years of experience as a Certified Building Contractor or Certified General Contractor. + The Chief shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Council, and shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor.
