Responsibilities Summary The Chief of Nursing/Quality Assurance (QA) Director for GEO is a nurse that provides leadership and assumes continuing and substantial responsibility for the coordination and evaluation of integrated programs that cross service and/or disciplines lines and influence organizational mission, vision, values and strategic priorities. This position is also responsible for creating, implementing and verifying quality improvement initiatives and overseeing and partnering with operational healthcare practitioners to implement Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) that ensure quality clinical outcomes to its patients. This position works closely with the Health Services leadership team and other departments to meet applicable healthcare standards and contractual requirements. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The Chief of Nursing/Quality Assurance Director develops and implements Nursing Competencies. Develops and implements Nursing Assessment Protocols. The Chief of Nursing/Quality Assurance Director assists with hiring and training of facility Nursing Supervisors. Develops and provides nursing training. The Chief of Nursing/Quality Assurance Director assists with review of Corporate Health Services policies and procedures. Assists with the review of facility local operating procedures. The Chief of Nursing/Quality Assurance Director participates in development, implementation and monitoring of Infection Control Programs. Participates in Clinical Pharmacy Program reviews and updates. The Chief of Nursing/Quality Assurance Director provides input to Corporate and facility budgets and P&Ls. Assists in the review and monitoring of nursing services completed within the company and client required Electronic Health Records. The Chief of Nursing/Quality Assurance Director develops and monitors the Corporate Quality Assurance Program. Oversees and works directly with the facility level QA nurses. The Chief of Nursing/Quality Assurance Director reviews audit findings and leads root cause analyses at Secure Services facilities. Collaborates with the Health Services leadership team and the Contract Compliance department to identify, prioritize and implement clinical intervention strategies. Ensures appropriate feedback is provided to the Health Services Administrator and other operational healthcare personnel after audits. Provides training on current policies and procedures that address the audit findings. Creates and facilitates strategies to implement CAPs created to achieve compliance with regulatory, contractual, policy, and accreditation obligations. Monitors CAP implementation and assess ongoing effectiveness. Establishes methods to track implementation and effectiveness of action plans following audits and critical events reviews. Leads failure modes and effects analyses (FMEA) to prevent failures. Develops continual performance improvement strategies within the clinical and related interdisciplinary team. Resolves and facilitates quality control issues and concerns identified by detainees, staff, contract partners, and other outside private and governmental entities. Communicate monthly with Health Services leadership to discuss department-wide quality improvement. Perform other duties as assigned. Occasional travel is required. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Associate degree from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor degree preferred. Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as Registered Nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the US or in the District of Columbia. Maintains a current copy of license on file at the facility at all times. Five (5) years of mid to high level leadership/management experience preferred. Management experience should be within the last 7-8 years; a strong background of progressive clinical knowledge is preferred. Five (5) years of experience in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement. Demonstrated ability to manage a complex nursing section with diverse programs. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department. Correctional experience preferred. The GEO Group, Inc.
