Chief of Staff

Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Chief of Staff to join our growing team.

This position is located on-site in Sedro-Woolley, Washington State.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Chief of Staff position plays a pivotal role in supporting and strategizing with the CEO, ensuring effective coordination and implementation of initiatives working closely with the rest of the executive leadership team. This person will anticipate needs and demands of the CEO by acting as an extension of the CEO in building strong, trusting partnerships across the organization, and working to identify and solve problems and disputes in advance of them being brought to the CEO. The Chief of Staff should be a strong communicator, politically savvy, and capable of carrying out multiple projects while effectively prioritizing tasks. This person will be responsible for collaborating with Janicki’s leadership team to identify, develop, and implement high-impact business process improvements. 

The role supports the CEO in setting direction for strategy formulation and execution, through planning, goal setting, and then in driving results and delivery through ongoing interactions and meetings. The Chief of Staff is constantly operating at the heart of the business, critically contributing to its success. This individual will uphold and promote the company culture in everything they do.

The Chief of Staff position requires a hands-on, proactive, action-oriented individual who thrives in a dynamic environment within a fast-changing organization. This position requires exceptional strategic thinking, strong business acumen, and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of business operations and organizational dynamics.

The following essential functions of the position are:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

Conduct research, analyze data, and present data to support strategic decision-making. Takes ambiguity and make concrete actions. Collaborate with Janicki’s leadership team to identify, develop, and implement high-impact business process improvements and strategic goals within internal operations.

Project Management:

Drive and manage cross-functional projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with strategic objectives. Develop project plans, establish milestones, and monitor progress, identifying and addressing potential roadblocks. Coordinate with various departments and stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and communication. Deploy effective processes to ensure Executive Team decisions and actions are implemented and tracked, and appropriate follow-up and follow-through happens.

Communication and Coordination:

Organize and facilitate meetings, including preparing agendas, documenting minutes, and tracking action items. Facilitate and cascade internal and external communications regarding key decisions, information, and strategic directions. Represent Janicki’s leadership team in external meetings as requested.

Leadership Support:

Undertake special projects and assignments as directed by the CEO. Serve as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, offering insights and recommendations based on a thorough understanding of the business. Be a critical component in driving change across departments and leading initiatives Coordinate with the Human Resources Leadership to support Executive Team development and effectiveness and organizational structure.

QUALIFICATIONS

MUST BE U.S. CITIZEN OR LEGAL PERMANENT RESIDENT FOR THIS POSITION. 

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree required; Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex information into clear and concise messages. Exceptional project management skills, with a proven track record of successfully managing and executing projects. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously. High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion in dealing with confidential information.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Salary range for this role is between $100,000 - $175,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
