The Chief Operating Officer oversees, directs and coordinates the operational activities and programs associated with the day-to-day operations of the hospital through the delivery of cost effective and quality services. Exercises management responsibility over the hospital ensuring efficient services that are designed to meet the needs of the patients, physician, the public and staff. Accomplishes tasks either directly or through delegation of responsibility to the management staff.
Your Everyday
Acts as the main leader of the organization in the absence of the President.Responsible for integrating the organization’s strategic plan with the operations.Provides management oversight for the development of high quality and cost-effective clinical programs within the hospital.Leads and supports key committees pertaining to service areas. As directed, proposes appropriate departmental representatives to the multidisciplinary hospital committees.Develops and fosters collaboration between hospital departments, medical staff leadership and other affiliates services (inside and outside of the hospital) to ensure an integrated approach to providing services and fulfilling the hospitals goals and objectives.Functions as an effective liaison and intermediary between the Hospital and its affiliates.Represents the hospital at various Board of Trustees of LCMC and the governing board committees.Where appropriate, represents the hospital to the external market, as well as internally through the application of community relations and marketing.Develops new business strategies to enhance market share and improve overall hospital performance.Works through the management team and medical staff leadership, serving to help reduce cost, enhance revenues, increase patient satisfaction, achieve effective utilization and quality goals and objectives. Analyze and utilize information to develop and support management decisions.Communicates key information to stakeholders of these service areas with respect to managed care, marketplace needs and the competitive environment, cost management and patient-focused services.Performs management functions of the hospital and its affiliates as directed.

Minimum:
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
Required: 5+ years in a senior management role within a hospital system, either as a CEO, COO, or Senior Vice President of Operations or as a CEO of a proprietary hospital within a chain.Preferred: 10 years Management experience with proven positive outcomes regarding financial sustainability initiative.

Must have superb oral and written communication skills.Able to inspire and keep effective working relationship with employees and partners.To accomplish goals, they rely on work experience and planned judgment.Must be effective in reaching company goals by being creative and resourceful.Ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills.
