Primary Responsibilities: 

Flight Operations Management: Oversee daily flight operations and ensure adherence to company policies and aviation regulations. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for flight operations. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments. Investigate and report on any flight incidents or accidents, proposing measures to prevent future occurrences. Represent the flight department in external forums, including regulatory discussions and industry conferences. Participate in budget planning and management, allocating resources for pilot training, aircraft maintenance, and operational expenses.  

Pilot Training and Development: 

Design and oversee comprehensive training programs for company pilots, ensuring proficiency and safety. Conduct initial and recurrent training sessions for company pilots and third party partners, including ground school and in-flight instruction. Evaluate pilot performance and provide constructive feedback. 

Regulatory Compliance: 

Ensure all flight operations comply with FAA regulations and other relevant authorities. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation laws and industry standards. Prepare for and facilitate regulatory inspections and audits. Flight Demonstrations and Customer Engagement: Conduct flight demonstrations for potential customers, media, and stakeholders. Participate in air shows, trade shows, and other promotional events representing ICON Aircraft. Provide exceptional customer service and support to ICON A5 owners and pilots. 

Team Leadership and Collaboration: 

Lead, mentor, and manage the flight operations team, fostering a culture of safety, excellence, and teamwork. Collaborate with engineering, sales, marketing, and service departments to support company objectives. Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives. 


Requirements Instructor pilot holding FAA CFI (commercial and instrument rated)  FAA ASEL Commercial Certificate (or above)  Minimum 500 hours total flight time  Minimum 100 hours dual instruction given (civilian or military flight training)  FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate (minimum)  Seaplane Rating (may get this after job offer and before arrival at ICON)  Prior experience in a leadership role within flight operations. Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and aviation safety standards. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality flight instruction and pilot training. Passion for aviation and commitment to ICON Aircraft’s mission. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Previous experience with light sport aircraft, particularly the ICON A5. Background in conducting flight demonstrations and customer engagement. Experience in aviation safety management systems (SMS). 

Physical Requirements: 

Size limits: Due to aircraft weight and balance requirements, Instructor Pilots must maintain a weight not to exceed 200lbs.  Max Height of 6’4”
