Performs the duties of the Radiation Therapy Technologist as well as provide front line supervision of assigned personnel. Assist in the use and fabrication of positioning or restraining devices, accomplishing patient set-ups, portal adjustments and interpreting prescriptions. Handle any problems in clinical simulation procedures or scheduling for resolution. Maintains close supervision of the treatment area. Performs pretreatment verification of each new patient’s treatment chart to make sure it is complete and correct before treatment is initiated. Monitors charts and performs periodic spot checks during the course of treatment to insure that the treatment calculations are current, consent forms are present, etc. Works with physician and personnel to organize simulation schedule to insure no delays occur. Perform supervisory duties to include interviewing, hiring, counseling, disciplining, performance evaluations. Monitors the technical areas to make sure they are properly supplied with materials. Responsible for teaching and supervising radiation therapy students. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the treatment. Maintains and practices radiation safety using the ALARA principles. Responsible for ensuring proper billing practices are performed.
