Chief Security Officer

Job Summary:

The Chief Security Officer (CSO) provides strategic leadership and oversight to enable the management of enterprise-wide security operations, security technology solutions, policies, procedures, and best practices within the WMC Health Network. This individual is responsible for leading and setting the strategic direction necessary to evaluate and assess risk related, directly or indirectly, to the core operations of the Network, and safety of our patients, visitors staff, and resources.

Responsibilities:

Develops, implements, and maintains an overall security strategy and provides leadership to manage the enterprise-wide physical security initiatives. Oversees threat identification, assessment, and response for the Network. Develops and implements physical and operational policy and security protocols for our patients, visitors and staff. Oversees the development of security policies and procedures. Monitors, audits, and evaluates the operational effectiveness of the corporate security program to include periodic site visits, reports, and recommendations. Manages thorough investigations of all incidents under the jurisdiction of corporate security, or in conjunction with internal audit investigators, to include workplace violence, theft, and other incidents as appropriate. As Co Chair of the Workplace Violence Reduction Task Force and in collaboration with key stakeholders leads the network wide effort to identify, address and prevent incidences of workplace violence. Partners with internal stakeholders to understand corporate requirements related to security, and to further those requirements to align with current security projects. Serves as the enterprise lead for security incident response planning and execution. Oversees the investigation of all security incidents, and ensures timely reporting, resolution, and implementation of corrective actions for each incident. Maintains operating budget, and addresses needs and gaps as they occur. Leads the identification, development, and implementation of strategic process improvements that improve quality across the team, business unit, and/or organization for assigned areas of responsibility. Leads and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and departmental enterprise initiatives within assigned areas of responsibility. Maintains relationships with local, state, federal law enforcement, and first responder agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, as may be required to assure a high level of awareness of possible terrorist threat, criminal activity, or civil unrest affecting any of our facilities and employees. Serves as a trusted advisor to Senior Leadership on all security related matters. Oversees management of all security vendors including contract security officers. Assembles and leads high performing team of security directors and other security professionals, and creates career opportunities for internal talent. Leads team to deliver exceptional capabilities that result in exponential organizational performance improvements. Is knowledgeable of, and directs the implementation of, network-wide security technology solutions such as video surveillance, electronic access control, infant abduction prevention, and other current systems. Establishes meaningful metrics that measure efforts and outcomes so they are managed to optimize security investments and effectiveness. Qualifications/Requirements: 10+ years of progressive experience in employee security or law enforcement experience. 5+ years of management, strategy, and influencing senior management and critical stakeholder experience. Proven experience leading the strategic security function for an organizationwith multiple locations.

Education:

: Bachelor’s degree in security and/or criminal justice or related field required.

Licenses / Certifications:

The CSO may be expected to possess or qualify for a full carry pistol permit license valid in the State of New York and be armed while on duty. The CSO must be licensed to operate a motor vehicle and will regularly visit network hospitals in the course of duty.

Other:

Demonstrated ability to develop strategies and business plans to deliver and exceed expected business objectives and results. Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative style. Healthcare/Hospital security experience preferred but not required.
