About the role

Park Hyatt Kyoto is currently seeking an experienced Chief Sommelier responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of restaurant service, with a primary focus on wine-related activities with Hyatt International's Corporate Strategies and brand standards, whilst meeting employee, guest and owner expectations. Chief Sommelier is responsible for creating and managing an extensive wine list that complements the menu, collaborate with the culinary team to design wine pairings for events and seasonal menus, and oversee the storage, purchasing, and inventory management of all beverages, including wines, in line with the outlet’s operating concept and Hyatt International standards, ensuring maximum guest satisfaction while operating within budget, helping to ensure the financial success of the restaurant outlet. This position will also have duties that include staff training, development and scheduling. This is a highly visible role within the hotel and offers the opportunity to provide the highest level of guest satisfaction at Hyatt.

Ideally with a relevant degree or diploma in Hospitality or restaurant management. Minimum of three years of practical experience as a sommelier.  Knowledge of wine regions, vintages, and wine pairings.  Ability to communicate in English  Management skills, leadership, and excellent communication abilities.
