Job Summary:

The Child Care Assistant will provide supervision to children enrolled in the childcare program, including interactive play, structured activity implementation, and completion of child development summaries.

Key Responsibilities:

Represent the system and clients/patients served in a positive manner to clients, system’s associates, other agencies, and community members.Relate positively to those served, community families, and fellow system associates.Provide a safe, hazard free environment for children enrolled in childcare.Provide ongoing interaction with children involved in childcare.Provide age-appropriate structure and behavior modification in accordance with childcare regulations and agency procedures.Facilitate lesson plans as directed by the Childcare Lead Teacher or Childcare Director.Complete daily cleaning chores and follow deep cleaning schedule as directed.Communicate with Childcare Lead Teacher, Child Care Director and Clinical Staff regarding observed needs of children including specialized services with families or other support.Prepare breakfast, lunch, or snack meals for children as needed according to menu schedule.Facilitate opportunities for self-expression, self-exploration, and developmental advancements in the children we serve.Provide ongoing feedback to parents concerning children’s daily activities.Assure childcare protocols in accordance with childcare licensing requirements.Assist staff with both long- and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy.Maintain daily open communication with parents.Report any suspected behavior that is indicative of abuse to supervisor immediately.Assist Child Care Lead Teacher to arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophyInspect and replace damaged or lost materialsMaintain classroom environment in a neat and orderly fashion at all timesAttend in-service and staff meetingsKeep all appropriate records such as child’s records, attendance and time sheets.Adhere to all HIPAA and 42 CFR regulations as it relates to client/patient and child confidentiality.Attend all mandatory trainings and meetings provided to meet childcare training regulations.Coordinate parental involvement in the children’s activities.Conduct daily business in accordance with childcare standards and agency protocols.Ensure children’s belongings are returned to parents at close of day.Facilitate emergency drills as needed.

Experience and/or Education Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; or one to three months related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
