JOB DESCRIPTION:

An exciting opportunity to join an established and supportive Child Life and Creative Arts team at Goryeb Children’s Hospital as Child Life services are extended to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Morristown Medical Center. 

Principal Accountabilities:

Provide Child Life services to NICU patients based on an understanding of infant development and the impact that illness, injury, and hospitalization have on this process.  Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to insure the provision of a developmentally appropriate plan of care and interventions for infants in the NICU. Assist caregivers in identifying ways to support their infant while in the NICU, thereby increasing their confidence and skills through education. Support siblings in developing an age-appropriate understanding of infant’s hospitalization, medical needs, and family role. Develop and support family centered care programming and services to meet the needs of NICU patients and families. Support initiatives and requirements of the child life program including but not limited to planning of special events, receipt of donations, and supervision of students/volunteers.  Maintain records, statistics, activity calendars, schedules, and other appropriate documentation.
