Child Life Specialist

Functioning as a member of the health care team, the Child Life Specialist is responsible for supporting children, teens, and family members in the health care setting by providing developmentally appropriate play/recreation and activities, education and preparation for medical procedures, and emotional support of the child and family.

Required qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Family Studies or a closely related field and Coursework/Training: Child life specific clinical training experience (e.g., practicum and/or internship) in a pediatric medical setting and Coursework/Training: Trained in child development principles and impact of illness and hospitalization on children and families: Application of therapeutic play, developmental education, and expressive modalities to address psychosocial needs of children and families National Certified Child Life Specialist - Association of Child Life Professionals upon hire

Preferred qualifications:

1 year experience working with young children and adolescents in a healthcare setting
