Child Life Specialist - Palliative Care Dept - Full Time Days
_Texas Health Fort Worth is looking for a top skilled Child Life Specialist to support the needs of our hospital. Is that you?_ **Work location:** Texas Health Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. Fort Worth TX 76104 **Work hours:** M-F 8a -5p/8-hour shifts **Department highlights:** · Fast-Paced, high-volume Palliative Care Department. Patients are admitted to this 16 bed unit for chronic medical and palliative care. The patient population on this unit consist of patients with multiple acute chronic diseases requiring aggressive treatment such as Copd, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Infectious Diseases as well as those facing end of life care. This position will office on the palliative care unit but will also support child life cases across all departments and specialties within the hospital. Will support pediatric patients and pediatric family members under the age of 18 to prepare them for their own illness or a family members diagnosis. **Here’s What You Need** + Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development or a closely related field required. + Completion of a child life internship required. + 1 year in a Child Life position required. + 1+ years experience as a Child Life Specialist in a hospital strongly preferred. + BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required. + CCLS – Certified Child Life Specialist upon hire required. **What You Will Do** + Advocate for the special needs of children and their families and helping them cope with medical situations by providing medical information, support and guidance. + Provide developmentally appropriate explanations to the patient, siblings, peers, and family members in regards to the healthcare environment and routine; the sequence, nature, and reasons for procedures; coping skills and pain management techniques; diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis; death and grief reactions. + Facilitate child's mastery of and coping with health care experience by providing play opportunities and other experiences which foster continued growth and development. + Serve as a resource on child and adolescent development to the hospital. + Communicate observations, assessments, and recommendations for care related to psychosocial needs of patients and families in the form of verbal reports, multi-disciplinary rounds, and documentation in medical records. + Family Support: Involve the family members in the child life plan of care. + Provide emotional support to the patient's family members and peers. + Promotes a positive image of Texas Health. + Takes responsibility for the quality and accountability of one's professional role. + Serves as a clinical role model to nursing staff and healthcare team members. **Additional perks of being a Texas Health Nurse** · Benefits include 401k, PTO, medical, dental, Paid Parental Leave, flex spending, tuition reimbursement, Student Loan Repayment Program as well as several other benefits. · A supportive, team environment with outstanding opportunities for growth. · Explore our Texas Health careers site (https://jobs.texashealth.org/) for info like Benefits (https://jobs.texashealth.org/benefits) , Job Listings by Category (https://jobs.texashealth.org/professions) , recent Awards (https://jobs.texashealth.org/awards) we’ve won and more. · **_Do you still have questions or concerns?_** Feel free to email your questions to recruitment@texashealth.org . #cb #LI-CR1 #IndeedMM Texas Health requires a resume when an application is submitted.Employment opportunities are only reflective of wholly owned Texas Health Resources entities.
