The Children’s Services of ACLD provides a continuum of services to children from ages three to twenty-one in their pre-school and after-school programs. We currently have an opportunity for a Staff Trainer to join our Bay Shore Facility. In this role, you will lead, educate, coach and assist staff and children in a pre-school classroom. Work cooperatively with a team, under general supervision of a certified teacher, by the provision of direct instructional services to children, designed to facilitate developmental growth (academic, social and physical), management and independence in preschool children.

Responsibilities:

Provide mentoring, coaching and education to teacher aide and assistant staff.  Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers and Educational Leadership team in order to coordinate instructional and support efforts.Ability to provide ongoing coaching and strategies for implementation of various technologies that support classroom instruction. Facilitate abilities of new staff to create and organize teaching supports for classrooms. Ability to train and educate staff in either a one to one, small and large group training.Facilitate new staff completion of all necessary trainings required by ACLD, OCFS, etc.as well as structuring movement of Teacher Aides to obtain the Teacher Asst. certification.  Facilitate abilities of new staff to Carry out educational goals by working directly with children throughout the day in a variety of settings, including the classroom, playground, and during special activities.Facilitate abilities of new staff to Assist children individually or in small groups in order to assist in the mastery of goals and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.Assist in the preparation of lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations.Facilitate abilities of new staff to Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage.  Facilitate abilities of new staff to Supervise students in classrooms, halls, playground, and during special activities.Facilitate abilities of new staff to Observe students’ performance and record relevant data to assess progress and plan lessons.Facilitate abilities of new staff to Carry out therapeutic regimens such as behavior modification plans, functional behavior assessments, and educational programs under the supervision of the teacher, team members, and supervisors.Facilitate abilities of new staff to Participate in team meetings and parent-teacher conferences to provide relevant information regarding students’ progress or problems and contribute to the development of goals and objectives.Facilitate abilities of new staff to Attend staff meetings, team meetings, in-service trainings and conferences to improve knowledge of special education and related fields.Facilitate abilities of new staff to Use computers, audio-visual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement classroom presentations and lessons. Facilitate abilities of new staff to Assist in bus duties and toileting.Facilitate abilities of new staff to Assist in the requisition and stocking of classroom supplies and materials.Facilitate abilities of new staff to Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment.Other duties as assigned.

 


Requirements:College credits required to meet Teacher Assistant Certification requirement. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with children in a classroom, childcare environment, or public-school setting. Working with children with special needs preferred.Must have the ability to work with and supervise children in a variety of educational settings including, but not limited to, self-contained, integrated, off-site, and childcare.Must be at least 18 years of age to supervise children independently.Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the supervision of the day-to-day activities of preschoolers which may include, but not limited to, running, bending, and lifting/carrying children as necessary.New York State Teacher Assistant Certification in Level 3 is required.   Bilingual preferred.

 

Level 3 - Third-level certificate for teaching assistants – permits the holder to provide direct instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher.)  Continuously valid with completion of the required professional development hours every five years.


   

Schedule:- Full Time 8-3:30 Mon-Fri 


  

25.00-30.00 per hour
