**Chocker** **Job Description** This position is responsible for securing vehicles within carriers to be transported. **Responsibilities** + Ensure the placement and removal of chockers on each car wheel. + Ensure the precise positioning of automobiles within the carriers. + Chock and strap the vehicles in the carrier. + Remove chocks and straps at the arrival terminal. + Wear and use required protective equipment while working. + Take responsibility for own safety while on the job. **Essential Skills** + Must speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. + Listen actively and get clarification; respond well to questions. + Work within approved budget and demonstrate cost consciousness. + Work with integrity and ethically. + Knowledge and understanding of company policies and handbook. + Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables. + Respond to requests for service and assistance. + Maintain confidentiality and keep emotions under control. + Remain open to others' ideas and try new things. + Demonstrate initiative and decisiveness; inspire others to excel. + Work well under pressure and tight deadlines; handle conflict resolution. + Work from written assignment sheets and sign-off work completed on printed forms. + Exhibit ability to read and interpret operational manuals. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Regularly required to stand or walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. + Frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. + Must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. + Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. + Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. + Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. **Why Work Here?** Flexible schedule, laid back work environment, and strong benefits plan. **Work Environment** Willingness to work in all weather conditions and various hours to accommodate the arrival and departure of the trains. Must be able to work alone and unsupervised. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lorton, Virginia. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
