POSITION TITLE:            Christmas Kettle Coordinator

DEPARTMENT:                Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (Kroc Center Hawaii)

SUPERVISOR:                 Congregational Life Manager

FLSA STATUS:                  Non-exempt

CLASSIFICATION:          Part Time (Temporary) Hourly Rate $17.00

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Christmas Kettle Coordinator will assist in the annual Christmas Red Kettle Campaign, during the Christmas Season. This position includes working evening and weekend hours.

 

The Christmas Kettle Coordinator will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the way he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community. 

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED required. Valid and current Hawaii State driver’s license. Must be at least 21 years of age to drive a fleet vehicle. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with all types of people. Possess good communication skills, both oral and written. Must possess good time management and organizational skills. Ability to effectively understand, reflect, communicate the Christian principles, mission, goals, and strengths of The Salvation Army and The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This position includes working evening and weekend hours. Prepare supplies and coordinate the opening and closing of kettle shifts. Drop off and pick up kettles. Kettle counting. Perform data entry. Assist interviewing for kettle staff. Recruit volunteers. Schedule kettle staff & volunteers. Supervise bell ringers. Provide excellent customer service to our business partners. Work with limited supervision, and work in a team setting with other professionals. Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule. Ability to take projects from beginning through completion. Respond to crisis situations in a calm and effective manner. Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work. Exercise good judgment and comfortable taking initiative with projects.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25-50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds. This employee will also be required to work weekends and evenings.

 

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:

The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephone; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies.

 

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:

Equipment used includes general office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, printers, fax machines, telephone (office and cell), 10-key calculator.

 

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Most work will be driving long distances, driving for extended periods of time, and both day and night driving.

 

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and participation in The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety Program.

 

CLEARANCES:

This position will require a criminal history information background check.  Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude employment.  The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.
