Scope of Position:

The Salvation Army in Klamath Falls Service Extension  is looking for a Kettle Coordinator for the 2024 Christmas season. They will work in close cooperation with the Corps Officer and other leaders to support the total ministry of The Salvation Army by helping to aid in the transportation and driving of goods and persons related to the annual Red Kettle Fundraising Campaign and Toy Distribution.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Ability to multi- task Strong organizational skills. Must have a valid driver’s license. Report serious issues and occurrences to supervisor. Demonstrates verbal and written skills. Well groomed and follow required office dress code. Familiarity with Salvation Army programs Ability to work as a team player. Maintains a current knowledge of and complies with all facility policies and procedures. Works closely and cooperates with other staff. Supportive of the Mission Statement of The Salvation Army, adhere to the Code of ethics and show a willingness to respect The Salvation Army’s spiritual beliefs and philosophy of service to others.

Equipment: Proficient with current Microsoft software computer programs including Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet, and standard office equipment and systems.

Skills:  Effective verbal and written communications, ability to listen and multi-task.

Organization: The ability to maintain a self-motivated and self- directed schedule. Able to address multiple projects in a timely manner. Responsive, detailed oriented, ability to take projects from beginning through completion.

Professional: The ability to work in a distinctively Christian environment. The ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work. Able to work with limited supervision, and work in a team setting with other professionals. Exercise good judgment and comfortable taking initiative with projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with Human Resources in hiring Kettle workers Supervise Kettle Workers/Drivers Develop and maintain schedules for kettle workers and drivers. Place kettle workers at work sites in Salem and surrounding areas (Marion/Polk Co.) Assist in making sure Kettle workers turn in payroll timesheets to office. Assist Human Resources with correspondence concerning Kettle Workers. Assist the volunteer coordinator in arranging volunteers to help mandate kettle sites. Maintain proper security for collection and distribution of kettles. Deliver counter kettles to collection sites, using official vehicles. Develop and maintain good communications with sites and their representatives. Keep track of where counter kettles are in stores and restaurants. Arrange for pick-up of counter kettles as needed, using official vehicles. Follow up correspondence to sites after Christmas. Follow up brief correspondence when Kettle Bell Ringing Program is finished. Maintain an appropriate image of The Salvation Army. Support the mission of The Salvation Army at all times.

Equipment Used:

The following equipment is used: Motor vehicles, including 15 passenger van/bus, mini-van, telephone, computer fax/copy machines.

Working Conditions:

Will require a criminal history information check. Conviction of a crime will not automatically prelude employment. The circumstances involved in the conviction(s) will be considered.

Will require a motor vehicle record check. Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. May occasionally require driving long distances all times of day and night.

Frequent phone and in person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused or frustrated.

Work with minimum supervision and work involves a high degree of independence. May be required to make independent decisions that may involve unique or unusual situations and/or complex issues and dealing with demanding requests.

Education & Work Experience:

One to Three years of Office/Program. High School Diploma required.
