Church Nursery Worker

LOCATION: Salvation Army Kroc Center - Phoenix, AZ

STATUS: Part-Time

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $14.35

The Salvation Army Kroc Center in Phoenix Arizona is looking to fill a Church Nursery Worker position. The successful candidate for this position will have a positive attitude toward work, helping others, and caring for children.

The Church Nursery worker will be responsible for planning and implementing the Sunday school curriculum for participants. The Nursery worker will need to ensure the safety and security of all the children in the curriculum as well as the cleanliness of the nursery facilities. This position will provide optimal customer service by ensuring all parents, guardians, and children are given prompt and courteous service. 

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age. Have at least one year of successful experience working with children. Preferred class-work in childhood development or related field. Required CPR/First Aid/AED certification at hire, or ability to be certified within 30 days of hire. Must have a positive attitude toward work, helping others, and caring for children. Must demonstrate Christian conduct and character, especially when providing care for children. Must be theologically aligned with The Salvation Army’s Christian values. Provide documentation of, or ability to pass Tuberculosis test. Ability to pass a child safety background clearance. Must take and retain PTM protocols in providing direct service to children. Computer and AV knowledge to download program material and stream on TV provided.

Responsibilities:

Provide a rich spiritual experience for our little ones during Sunday Service. Employee must log into Orange prior to Sunday and download and plan class time for participants. Curriculum to include: Memory Verse (provided) Ice Breaker Game (Provided) Video explanation and devotional (script provided) Songs that are theme-appropriate Closing craft (provided) Read Bible verses and be able to explain faith in action to children at the appropriate age level Encourage children to embrace the teachings of Jesus and tenants of the Christian faith Update the Child watch area with decorations that are theme-appropriate for the lesson Provide optimal customer service by ensuring all parents, guardians, and children are given prompt and courteous service. Follow all Protecting the Mission policies and procedures. Relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages and abilities. Sensitivity to children’s individual needs. Use appropriate positive discipline consistently. Practice vigilant supervision at all times. Handle security and crisis situations in a calm manner. Be responsible for maintaining the order and cleanliness of the short-term childcare facilities when in use. Adhere to RJKCCC operations as well as all policies and procedures. Observe all safety rules and regulations. Make certain that short-term childcare facilities remain secure by taking appropriate precautions and reporting any security concerns. Will communicate any child, parent, or staff issues with the Congregational Life Manager, or the Corps Officers. Complete required training. Attend staff meetings as assigned. Maintain confidentiality. Always adhere to the dress code. Facilitate check in and out procedures according to protocol, maintain accurate rosters/logs, and ensure proper identification of adult designated to pick up the child. Will interface respectfully with peers, supervisors, parents, guardians, and children of various socio-economic backgrounds. Handle disputes with participants, parents, staff, and children in a professional manner with the guidance of the ministry staff. Assist in emergencies or treatment of injured participants or staff. Follow up with completion of appropriate paperwork as directed. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures. Maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center. Other duties as assigned.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
