This is an intermediate level MS SQL DBA position responsible for a variety of MS SQL database administration activities including physical design and logical design of databases, design HA and COB solutions for MS SQL 2012 and above, perform database build, upgrade, patch, troubleshoot and performance tuning independently. The overall objective of this role is to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned frameworks.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Improve Problem Management and Stability within MS SQL environments
+ Willingness to work in a high-volume environment
+ Effectively collaborate with architecture, application development, requirements group, QA, testing and PMO teams
+ Work with Audit/Compliance teams to install and maintain MS SQL security updates and patches
+ Manage trouble and request queues ensuring timely resolution
+ Provide expert support, analysis and research into exceptionally complex problems
+ Assist with analysis, evaluation and preparation of recommendations for system improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts
+ Monitor status of critical system services reporting performance and server health
+ Develop mutually beneficial working relationships with customers.
+ Review, improve and approve technical work, to guide others, and to teach.
+ Help manager to track global initiatives such as cloud migration, EOVS remediation, VTM patching.
**Qualifications:**
+ 2-5 years of relevant experience in an MS SQL DBA role
+ Production support experience for critical MS SQL database systems.
+ Excellent troubleshooting skills.
+ Strong knowledge of Operating system platform and scripting/automation.
+ MS SQL 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019, 2022 internals.
+ Advanced knowledge of replication, AlwaysOn, db-mirroring, log-shipping, partitions and security for MS SQL servers.
+ Excellent knowledge of T-SQL language.
+ Strong experience with backup and recovery procedures for all MS SQL Server database systems according to industry best practices.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with remote teams.
+ Knowledge of Powershell scripting is a big plus.
+ Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
+ Project Management experience
+ Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
+ Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices
+ Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills
+ Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teams
+ Ability to work independently, prioritize, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiative
+ Ability to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
+ Proven track record of operational process change and improvement
