The Twelfth Judicial Circuit has an opening for an Administrative Specialist III position, working with the Citizen Dispute Settlement Program (CDSP) in Sarasota. The primary focus of this position is providing major administrative functions for the court and the CDSP. This position will be responsible for working with volunteer mediators and court participants, managing case files, compiling statistics, assisting judges as necessary, public speaking to promote court programs, providing continuing education and special programs for volunteers. The position requires a good working relationship with judges, court personnel, volunteer mediators, referral sources, attorneys, clerk’s office employees and the public. The employee must become a Florida Supreme Court certified county mediator and Florida Supreme Court certified assistant trainer within one (1) year of hire.
A few of your daily responsibilities:
+ Schedule and coordinate pre-filing mediation for the CDSP and oversee volunteer mediators;
+ Analyze documents such as contracts to ensure comprehension of issues in dispute and communicate with parties regarding the dispute to obtain voluntary participation in CDSP;
+ Oversee volunteer mediators and facilitate small claims county court proceedings; arrange volunteers to mediate the cases to resolution;
+ Mediate county cases, prepare/draft settlement agreements, court orders or impasse reports on all cases mediated;
+ Perform administrative functions including data reporting, present trainings to volunteer mediators, assist with program outreach including speaking to groups about the program and assisting the South County Program Director as needed.

+ ability to organize and prioritize work;
+ working knowledge of the judicial system and court procedures;
+ ability to use basic office equipment;
+ ability to take effective action and exercise sound judgment; and
+ ability to interact with individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5 PM
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Associates degree from an accredited college or university.
+ 4-6 years of clerical or administrative experience.
+ Year-for-year experience may substitute for the college degree.
+ Valid Florida driver's license, or ability to obtain by start date and maintained throughout service.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Working knowledge of the judicial system and court procedures, standard business/office experience.
+ Certification as a mediator.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.
CJIS Clearance: The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay: $23.33/hour
